Our Mission:

We are dedicated to motivating and transforming individuals to be responsible,
peaceful world citizens with a commitment to building just, compassionate and
nonviolent communities.

Our Purpose:
Motive: PEACE provides programming to foster peacemaking life skills.  We engage
children and adults in experiential education in our camps, clubs and workshops.
We emphasize cooperation, human rights, and environmental stewardship.  Motive:
PEACE aims to generate self-confident advocates for justice and constructive,
caring contributors to a democratic society.

Our Philosophy:
The business of creating peace and increasing the level of nonviolent choices in
conflict situations is vital in our complicated and busy society. Motive: PEACE is not
political or sectarian. Motive: PEACE does not view conflict as a negative thing.
Conflict cannot be eliminated, but can be responsibly and creatively dealt with.
Most change (internal, interpersonal, and social) is a result of conflict- a challenge
to our preconceived notions and ways of behavior. We do not seek to end all
conflict, but seek to shape the way people act on these challenges, encouraging
non-violence. Individually, the confidence found in choosing peaceful actions
creates improved self-esteem, actualizing a person pleased to be a responsible
advocate for peaceful solutions to conflict.

Our peace programming helps participants recognize and act on options in conflict
situations.  Youth will be encouraged to define their values and look for
cooperative resolution when faced with conflict.  Activities are largely group-based
and experiential.  In other words, participants will be collaborating and having fun,
while facing and working through challenges.  Our program is designed to help
children and youth gain confidence as peacemakers.   Our objective is to provide a
safe haven for participants with the hope they will begin to see the possibilities for
peaceful change in themselves, their communities and the world.

Activities promote values such as respect; teamwork; communication skills;
leadership; earth stewardship; creative play; courage and activism.

Opportunties abound for children of many temperaments.  Our programming is
Challenge by Choice -- we encourage each individual to challenge themselves to
participate with the group to gain the most out of our sessions.

Our Vision:
Motive: PEACE will interact with integrity and justice towards all, as our philosophy
rests firm in the notion that peace is always something worthwhile, needing
constant vigilance and beginning from the center outwards. By teaching and
modeling this awareness, we will create a more engaged, aware, and peaceful
community; one generation at a time.

Our History:
Motive: PEACE was formally established in March 2006.  Our founder created this
non-profit organization as a response to needs expressed by parents in the Detroit
Metropolitan area for experiential programs geared towards conflict awareness,
mediation techniques, and empowerment towards peaceful actions for children in
the community. All of the programs Motive: PEACE offers support that call.
Motive: PEACE is incorporated as a non-profit corporation in the State of Michigan.
Motive: PEACE holds tax-exempt status as a 170(b)(1)(A)(vi) public charity
under section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Department of Treasury Internal Revenue Code.
Donations are tax-deductible as provided by law.  Please consult your tax advisor regarding the deductibility of your contribution.
