The Southwestern Company's "My First Words" dictionary says...
"When you and your brother or sister or friend are having fun together, and doing things together, and helping each other, you have peace. When nations enjoy each other and help each other, there is peace. When they fight each other, there is war. Peace is more healthy and enjoyable than war.

So, does being peaceful mean
never, ever fighting? NO!!
Sometimes conflict (conflict
means disagreeing, NOT hitting)
is a good thing. It's a way of
saying "this is wrong, and we
need to choose to do right." Many
peaceful people have had
conflicts with others: Ghandi,
who disagreed with the
occupation of his country by
others, Dr. Martin Luther King,
who opposed the unfair
treatment of black Americans.
Conflict is one way of standing up
to things that are unfair. The key
is to disagree PEACEFULLY- this
means using our words and our
voices to resolve our conflicts,
not our fists. When we realize
that our voices are more powerful
than weapons, then we can have
peace even when we conflict with
others.
